Personal Profile

Since turning to writing on a full-time basis, I have earned for myself a reputation for accuracy and speed of delivery. I have progressed in a short space of time to able to count amongst my employers BBC Radio Times, The Independent and The Guardian all of whom are loath to accept work from freelance journalists on account of the high volume of staff they have employed. Since completing my BA in History and American Studies and my MA in Writing, I have been considering entering the Certificate of Education programme, so that I can continue to develop the skills of the Visually Impaired who’s writing classes I also organise on a weekly basis. Added to this, Carlton Television are considering one of my screenplays and my first novel is currently with an agent for publication.

Work Experience:

Upon becoming a fully qualified Chef in 1984, I became Second Chef at The Spinning Wheel Tavern, Broughton, Chester where I had been working part time during my studies. I then became Head Chef of the Cromwell Court Hotel, City Road, Chester in 1985.

I then moved on to become Head Chef of 3 outlets for Tom Porter First Family Inns based in Lympstone near Exeter, Devon. In 1987 I moved to Bristol to become a Trainee Manager for Inn Leisure Ltd. and successfully secured my first position as Public House manager of The College Tavern, College Green, Bristol in July of that year.

In 1988, I began work with Allied Breweries and became Manager of the Marshwarden Inn, Rhuddlan, North Wales. In 1989 I became Bar Manager of The Ship Inn, Market Street, Hoylake. In February 1993, I was promoted to Full Manager of the same establishment. In 1994, I came out of catering and became Shop Manager for Carr Farm Garden Centre, Meols Drive, Meols, Wirral before leaving to undertake full time education in 1999.
