I See You, the debut novel in England for American author, Gregg Hurwitz, is without doubt a novel worthy of its prior acclaim from authors such as Robert Crais and Dennis Lahane. Gritty, witty and enthralling, here is a novel guaranteed to become a hit if ever there was one..

When best-selling thriller writer Andrew Danner wakes up in a hospital bed with no idea how he got there, he is horrified to be told that he is responsible for the murder of his ex-fiancée. In the resulting celebrity trial, Drew is exonerated on the grounds of temporary insanity caused by a recent brain tumour. But he still has no idea if he did kill Genevieve, and is desperate to find out. Haunted by what appear to be his bizarre night-time actions - did he really cut his own foot with a knife? - Drew is shocked when another woman is discovered dead, murdered in the same way as Genevieve. Trying to clear his name and understand what's happening to him, Drew enlists the help of a tame forensic scientist, a sympathetic detective, his staunch friend Chic who has helpful underworld connections, and an over-confident teenager.

Gregg Hurwitz, with this his eighth novel, certainly has a grip on description. Each page is imbued with insights into LA that Michael Connelly can only dream about, yet never overstates his case.

Likewise, the humour is slotted into the story extremely well and is counter-balanced by a poignancy that is at once both moving and thought provoking in a way that sneaks up from behind.

With a cast of characters that are so credible and a host of scenarios certain to have readers biting their nails to the quick, I See You is a thrill-fest, roller-coaster ride from first to last that is, if ever there was one, the definitive must read book of 2007.
